Macoupin County Wild Riders

The Macoupin County Wild Riders is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1964 that is managed by an executive board of directors, committee members and maintained by volunteer efforts. Our membership consists of riders and non-riders that share a love of horses and enjoy spending time with others with similar interests. The club’s main objective is to provide a safe, friendly and positive environment that promotes good sportsmanship and opportunities in learning, personal growth and development from the beginner to the accomplished equestrian.

Our fun events are held April through October at 15358 Bishop Dr. at the entrance to New Gillespie Lake in Gillespie, IL. In order to keep these events fun and safe for the horses, riders, and spectators, we have the following rules for 2024:

Shows may be cancelled for rain. Will be posted no later than 12 pm.
Current Negative Coggins Required on ALL Horses.
Every person Competing must be a Member (Applications accepted at sign up).
Decision of Judge (Announcer in timed events) is Final.
All Riders being lead through a Class will not be judged.
Collared Shirt, Boots, and Jeans required to show. Participants not wearing a collared shirt may purchase a Macoupin County Wild Riders T-shirt. Otherwise they will not be judged.
Absolutely no running on club grounds except in designated areas.
Horses must be under control at all times.
We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave at any time.
Keep off arena fences.
No animals tied to trees or the fence.
All pets must be kept on a leash and controlled at all times.
If a horse kicks, a red ribbon on the tail is required.
You are responsible any/all property damage caused by your animal.
Proper English Attire (Collared Polo & Jog Pants & Rack required for Classes 3, 4,&5).
Proper Western Tack required for Classes 6, 7, 8, & 9.
No Alcoholic Beverages Allowed on the Property.
